Getting Involved

The Chamber is looking for member volunteers to actively participate on the following committees:

Appomattox Cheerz:  Plan and organize the Appomattox Cheerz events.  Line up sponsorships, civic organizations, entertainment, vendors and volunteers.

Appomattox Cheerz volunteers:  Beverly Davidson, Jackie Drinkard, John Redding, J. Patrick Richardson

Budget:  Prepare annual budgets for the Chamber of Commerce.  Monitor on a monthly basis and report status to the Chamber Board.  Set up various reports as requested by the Chamber Board.

Communications/Marketing:  Promote the Chamber and its work through the media, special events and the membership.  Promote the various products and services that are provided by the membership.  Utilize the website to market Appomattox, its businesses, and its tourist attractions.

Fundraising:  Plan and coordinate fundraising activities which are approved by the Chamber Board.  Maintain a separate account for each fundraising activity and report results to the Chamber Board.

Hospitality:  Coordinate various Chamber activities such as membership luncheons & dinners, Citizens of the Year dinner, open house ceremonies, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, seminars, etc.

Membership:  Identify services which will benefit the membership of the Chamber and ensure the Chamber is responding to the needs and expectations of its members.  Actively solicit new members.  Prepare and update new members' brochure and information kit.  Promote corporate sponsorships.

Scholarship:  Coordinate annual scholarship award.  Prepare and distribute scholarship applications to local high school.  Prepare promotional materials for distribution.  Coordinate receipt of completed applications for Review Committee to make final determination of winner.  Coordinate scholarship presentation to recipient.
